TOWN OF WESTPORT — A 43-year-old man riding a bicycle was seriously
injured Friday night when he was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run
crash on Highway M near Borchers Beach Road.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office reported the crash happened about 9:15
p.m. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, Sheriff’s Lt. Dan Bolch
said in a news release, but left behind a front license plate that came
back as registered to a gray, four-door, 1999 Chevrolet Malibu.
The plate registration is 240 NNJ. Authorities are asking anyone who
sees the car, which should show front-end damage, or has information
about it to contact the sheriff’s office by calling 911.
The injured man was taken to the hospital with injuries believed to be
serious but not life-threatening, authorities said.
