POLICE DEPARTMENT
SALARY: $13.57 per hour
HOURS: Approximately 20 hours per week; 12:30-4:30 p.m.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This is responsible and varied clerical and
administrative support work in the Madison Police Department Property
Section with particular emphasis on bicycle recovery, return and
disposition. The work is performed independently under the general
supervision of the Police Property Supervisor.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Administer the Police
Department’s Bicycle Recovery Program by responding to bicycle related
complaints. Retrieve, tag, store and inventory abandoned, illegally
parked or found bicycles. Using the police computer and filing systems,
organize data and information as requested. Identify stolen bicycles.
Locate and notify owners and arrange for the return of bicycles. Catalog
and prepare unclaimed bicycles for semi-annual auctions. Dispose of junk
bicycles. Assist Property Clerks in researching the disposition of
various cases and related property and/or evidence. Participate in the
transportation, disposition and destruction of property according to
established procedures. Perform related work as required.
