I don't have a kayak, but friends tell me that they travel from
Madison to Stoughton on the Yahara/Cat Fish Creek. Since that dumps
into the Rock River, which goes to the Mississippi, I assume the
answer is "anywhere you want."

I have seen people hauling kayaks and canoes on modified bike
trailers, so you wouldn't be the only one. Two options are to get a
long-bed trailer like those available from Bikes At Work in Ames,
Iowa: www.bikesatwork.com/ Or put wheels on the end of the kayak and
lay the other end on a standard trailer bed (like a Burley stripped
down to the frame.) People put wheels on their canoes for Paddle and
Portage, so again, it can't be that complicated unusual.

Either way, let us know what you do, 'cause the same thought has
crossed my mind. Besides, I don't want to dea with a roof rack on the
car anyway.
