I think it's fine. I feel more comfortable keeping my right hand on
the handlebars, so I use the bent left arm. I also figure that the
cars are typically on my left side, so are more likely to notice my
left hand. If I'm merging from the left side of cars across a lane,
I'll stick my right hand in front of them because they're more likely
to see what's in front of them (I hope).
