This past Sunday morning at proximately 9:45 a female cyclist was struck by what was described as a black SUV . This occurred on the bike path which crosses the section of Blair Street that feeds into the Machinery Row Building parking lot - specifically, closest to the corner of the MR building. I did not witness the crash and am not clear on the specifics. I do know that the SUV took off and, as far as I know, has not yet been found. The cyclist, who was conscious, was taken by ambulance to the hospital. She stopped into the bike shop yesterday to find out if any of the employees had witnessed the accident (none of us had). She had what appeared to be a broken finger, a black eye and some other bruises and scrapes. It sounds as though the SUV may have been pulling an illegal maneuver at the time of the collision. Unfortunately, I was dealing with several bikes at once when she came in and did not have a chance to speak with her.
