In the E. Mifflin bike boulevard discussion between the Tenney Lapham neighborhood and Traffic Engineering, sharrows were described as being for streets with very little auto traffic. They are intended to encourage bikes to ride fully in the center of the lane. Auto traffic that is present, would have to follow bikes, going at their speed. If East Mifflin were to become a bike boulevard, then through auto traffic would have to be be discouraged in some way.

A sharrow in the wrong place loses it's meaning. You want to limit the use of sharrows to bike routes that have very little auto traffic. We all know that too many motorists think they own the road and the idea of fully sharing the road is alien to them. The next East Mifflin bike boulevard discussion is Tuesday, Oct. 13th at Supreme Pizza, 912 E. Johnson, 7-8:30PM
