I don't think it's too dark, everything else is just too bright. Get a better
light, you'll see hazards better on the occasional stretch of non-overlit
street and drivers will be way more likely to notice you. Those wimpy "be seen
but not see" lights get washed out way too easy with car headlights around.
Also it might seem those houses are far away in the summer, but in winter with
no vegetation and snow any path lights will shine a lot of light in those
windows. Besides some of us weirdos like to walk around and look at stars
once in a while. If you want to drive a car at night, you need a bright light
in front. Ditto for bikes. Of course the way we like to light things up you
hardly need them to drive on most roads at night.
Can you tell I don't like light pollution?
