I have a NiteRider, which is pretty bright, and I turn it off or turn it down and to the right when I am riding a path and there is other traffic there (don't usually need to do this in the middle of the winter and I don't do this on roads, which usually have enough ambient light not to cause blinding and where people expect to see bright headlights). Of course, I think everyone should do this :)
