A 43-year-old female bicyclist suffered minor injuries early Sunday
morning after being struck by an alleged drunken driver while she was
riding on the east side, Madison police reported.

The driver of the Honda Civic, Erin Bonuso, 25, of Madison, was cited
for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.

Police said the victim and a man who was biking with her were headed
north in the 2400 block of St. Paul Ave. at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday,
when the car came up behind her and hit the bike.

"She was carried a short distance before landing on the ground," said
police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

The crash caused the car's windshield to crack, broke off a rearview
mirror and left the bike with significant damages.

Bonuso and passengers in the Honda Civic stopped after the crash and
rendered aid to the victim, DeSpain said.
