Happy Monday All. Some good news on trails in the area:
* * As you may know, the City of Madison, in cooperation with the City of Fitchburg, is planning to construct a paved bike and pedestrian path in the former Union Pacific Railroad corridor. The corridor for the project was acquired with assistance from Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The ultimate project is a path connecting to the WDNR’s Military Ridge Trail in Fitchburg, extending more than 4 miles to north of Beltline Highway, including a new pedestrian bridge over the Beltline. The first phase is about one mile of path beginning at the east line of the UW Arboretum and continuing northeast to Greenway View. At the west end a path through Knollwood Park will connect the main path to Knollwood Way. A longer connecting path will link to the Capital City Trail to the south. At the north end the main path will connect to Greenway View and to Luann Lane via a path through Leopold Park. We would like to invite you to a Public Informational Meeting at which City Engineering, and our consultant, Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc (SEH), will present preliminary plans. The meeting will be: *Tuesday * *March 30, 2010 from 5:30 PM to 7**:30 PM* *Leopold School (C**afeteria)* *1602 Post Road* This will be an opportunity to see the preliminary plans, discuss the project with staff from City Engineering and our consultant and, especially, to provide your input on the project. The open house will begin at 5:30, with a brief presentation at 6:00 followed by questions and answers. Please join us to review the plans and provide your comments to the design team.
