There have been several forums around campus lately focused mostly on
budgetary concerns and and parking garage construction.
I attended one and commented on concerns I have about fast growing trend
of moped use on campus and the UW's response to this trend, which has
been to build lots more moped parking pads in spots all around campus.
Mopeds are far more polluting than cars when it comes to particulate and
a host of other noxious exhaust chemicals. They also have much more
accidents per mile than cars (50 to 75 times more according to one study
I read).
