I was a little skeptical of the choice of color when I first read the bikies
posting about the new bike box paint. But when I was biking home and actually
saw the new red box, I think that it works great. The white graphic of the
cyclist in the box is very easy to see too.

Now, as was pointed out in another post yesterday, we need to focus on
educating local drivers (and cyclists) about bike boxes- what they are, how to
use them, and why they are a useful traffic tool. The multi-media approach
sounds sensible to me. The city might as well include the education campaign
into the cost of the project, since the boxes don't do any good if folks don't
know what they are.

And, we need to keep in mind that the Willy-Blair intersection has a relatively
high percentage of people from out of town driving through it. A point-of-use
sign might be necessary too.

It's great to have this first step to talk about!
