Palmyra is in Jefferson County and so is a good part of his district. Jefferson County has a great Bike Plan and has marked rural (on-road) routes. They also have a strong bike cub - Jefferson County Bicycle Club and some great rides. Their fundraiser is Tour de Fort, which is in August and more than 1/2 of the 100 Km goes thru his district. Anti-legislation in his own district should #1. He has a lot of targets out there.

Nass is always listed as "R-Whitewater," but he actually doesn't live in Whitewater. In fact, his district stops at the Whitewater city limits -- http://www.legis.state.wi.us//Assembly/asm31/Adist31.pdf-- so nobody who lives in Whitewater has the opportunity to vote for -- or against -- him. I don't know if that explains anything. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Darryl Jordan" <[email protected]> To: "India Rose Viola" <[email protected]>, [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, May 26, 2010 12:42:48 PM Subject: Re: [Bikies] And I thougth they were a good thing... Nass is from conservative Walworth County. If it was good for the 19th century, it is good for him. More specifically, he's from Whitewater, which has a big Trek plant. --- On Wed, 5/26/10, India Rose Viola <[email protected]> wrote: From: India Rose Viola <[email protected]> Subject: [Bikies] And I thougth they were a good thing... So unfair to cars! <http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt_and_politics/article_2 33e0e24-6602-11df-a306-001cc4c002e0.html> State representative Nass is very concerned about our new bike boxes here in Madison. I think he needs to try riding a bike around town before he makes statements about how "The bike boxes are an extension of bias against motorists". He is also quoted as saying, "boxes will cause bikes to cluster and get in the way of motor vehicles when the light turns green." My understanding is that this is exactly what the boxes are meant to do (minus the "get in the way" part). At particularly busy intersections that are difficult to navigate safely on a bike, bike boxes help make cyclists totally visible to cars, allow them to make a left turn safely, and enable them to move out ahead of the cars once the light turns green. "It´s basically about liberal extremists in Madison who hate cars and think everyone should bike to work," Nass said. "It is basically making it difficult to use an automobile." Basically, I take it he doesn't like bikes. Here's to hoping representative Nass encounters a lot of spirited opposition. -India _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.danenet.org/listinfo.cgi/bikies-danenet.org _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.danenet.org/listinfo.cgi/bikies-danenet.org Michael W.
