Dear Bikies,
The Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin is holding a Commuter Bike Challenge June 6-11 (during Madison's Bike to Work Week). Workplaces can receive recognition in four categories: - Highest number of participating employees - Highest average number of days biked per participating employee - Highest average number of miles biked per participating employee - Most miles biked per workplace We are doing the Commuter Bike Challenge a little differently than in previous years. *THERE IS NO ADVANCED SIGN-UP FOR INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANTS*, just for workplaces. Employees at participating workplaces are automatically registered when they log their trips during Bike to Work Week. Other individuals who want to register can do so at a Commuter Station<http://www.bfw.org/coordination/index.php?category_id=3946&subcategory_id=6369>during Bike to Work Week or at the end-of-week party at Tenney Park. This is how the Commuter Bike Challenge works: 1. Workplaces can register online<http://www.bfw.org/coordination/index.php?category_id=3946&subcategory_id=7367%20> *before 12 p.m. Friday, June 4*. Only organizations need to preregister. Individual participants *do not need to preregister. *Please check with your supervisor and our online list of participating workplaces<http://www.bfw.org/coordination/index.php?category_id=3946&subcategory_id=7371>(updated daily) before signing your workplace up. 2. The Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin (Bike Fed) will send your workplace's contact person information and instructions to share with other employees about participating in the Commuter Challenge. 3. Workplaces are asked to encourage employees to participate by biking to work June 6-11. 4. Participating workers log their bike commute trips daily on the Bike Fed Web site (the form takes just a moment to fill out). The Bike Fed will provide your workplace's contact person with a link to the form *a few days before Bike to Work Week begins*; trips cannot be logged before then. Individuals are automatically registered the first time they log a trip. 5. At the end of the Commuter Bike Challenge, the Bike Fed will send the business contact an incentive to distribute to each employee who commuted by bike *at least once* during the week. The incentive for the Madison area is a $10 coupon good on a $50 purchase at Trek Bicycle Stores. You can find a full schedule of Madison's Bike to Work Week events here<http://www.bfw.org/coordination/index.php?category_id=3946&subcategory_id=6369> . If you have any questions, please contact Hilary Carroll, the Bike Fed's director of membership and development, at 608-251-4456 or [email protected].
