This came in on my neighborhood listserv, and I thought some Bikies
might want to see it as well. If you have questions, please contact
the people named in the message (or the City.)

On a side note, I want to thank all the people around the city, and
some on this list in particular, for putting so much effort into
making our paths and other small public spaces so nice, by doing
volunteer gardening, planting, seeding, weeding, and other care. Some
have permission, and some do not, as noted in a recent madison.com
story:

(Many know who "John" is, the person responsible for the prairie
plantings along the East Isthmus Path.)

Anyway, on to the original reason for posting.

[start forward]

The City, Regent Neighborhood and Dudgeon Monroe Assocs are improving
the vegetation on the bike path. All are attempting to remove the
invasive species and weeds. At the Prospect ramp in particular, we
are investing $1,000 to restore the area and beautify it - including
new plantings and a design plan.

That means however, that to improve the area, they are applying some
herbicide. Contact Jake or Steve if you would like to find out the
exact date. The area is to be posted with signs in advance of the
event. Right now, the weather is not cooperating.

A big thanks to Steve Arnold and others for all the work that has gone
into this.

Here is the message from Steve and Jake:

“The Dudgeon Monroe and Regent Neighborhood Associations are
continuing to restore this area to gardens with perennial and prairie
pants
One of the first steps of this process is reducing the density of
weeds currently on the site. Within the next few days, we may apply
herbicide to some of the vegetation in this area. If you have any
questions about this work, please contact Jake Blasczyk (251-9506)) or
Steve Arnold (233-1784).”

[end forward]
