Wondering whether folks that bike in the Dunn's Marsh Neighborhood (Between the beltline and Dunn's Marsh, and Verona Rd and Seminole Highway) could weigh in with some thoughts. The neighborhood association is requesting bike lanes on the south side of the Beltline frontage road (at least) and is looking for suggestions related to that request. Are there places where there should be red boxes (thinking at Seminole as well as the frontage rd by Walgreen's especially)? Other bike related requests/suggestions that should be considered anywhere in the neighborhood? This request is going to Madison, but a big chunk of the neighborhood is Fitchburg, and we can certainly make requests that way as well. Thanks for thoughts!
I agree that bike boxes would be beneficial on Summit at the Verona Rd, and at Seminole Highway northbound south of the Beltline. Going a bit farther afield, I would also add bike boxes on Seminole Highway southbound both north and south of the Beltline (I've never had to stop on my bike northbound north of the beltline), and on Seminole at McKee, both north- and southbound. (McKee bike traffic at that intersection doesn't warrant bike boxes.)
Fitchburg has an informal staff planning exercise going to determine what local roads/streets <30 MPH should have sharrows. We should also look at bike boxes. Send suggestions to Ahna.
