This article in today's New York Times reports on findings in a new book-- "The High Cost of Free Parking"-- by UCB urban planning researcher Donald Shoup. The 733-page length of the book suggests that it may take a rather deep look at the problem of subsidized parking, summarized nicely by this quotable: "Minimum parking requirements act like a fertility drug for cars."
