I have to agree with the sentiment against the bike rental program. There are other parts of the bike/ped infrastructure that should take priority. Simple little things like the John Nolan/Willy/Wilson crossing over the tracks, table topping the bike path over cross streets (traffic calming), more hawk-style lights (e.g. Willy/Yahara), safer routes for school kids, etc.
While it's quite a statement to have the shiny Trek rental stations (and there's value in its setting of the tone of a bike-friendly place, it might not be prudent yet — in my opinion. John Martin
