Even without all the hubbub at the Capitol, I figured we would lose our #2
position eventually.

It's not even that we are getting worse, but that other states have stepped
up their game. The statewide rankings were somewhat arbitrary to start off
with, and Wisconsin benefited from having good policies and programs in
place, but also because we simply had the statistics to prove we had good
shoulders on rural roads, lots of trails, high bike ridership, etc.

It's no reason to slack off, but I'm not too worried. OK, I'm worried, but
it's not just bicycling that I'm worried about. That's a different, and very
political discussion.
