"Find an alternate route" is easier said than done in this case. For most closures, there's a natural detour, but in this case it's hard to think of one.
I, personally, won't be inconvenienced by this closure -- if I go that way at all, it's on weekends -- but for people who will be affected, are there any suggestions for alternate routes? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Arthur Ross" <[email protected]> To: "bikies" <[email protected]> Cc: "Steve Sonntag" <[email protected]>, "Sarah Edgerton" <[email protected]>, "Scott Langer" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 26, 2011 4:52:26 PM Subject: [Bikies] Nob Hill Railroad Crossing Replacement Nob Hill Railroad Crossing Replacement Beginning Tuesday May 31st, Wisconsin Southern Railroad will begin replacement of the rail crossing on Nob Hill Road. This will require the closure of Nob Hill Rd between Badger Lane and Royal Ave. The closure will last through Friday June 3rd. The connecting path between Waunona Way and the Capital City bike path (along John Nolen Drive at the Beltline) will be closed on June 2, 2011 due to replacement of the railroad crossing. This necessary work on the railroad tracks will prevent bicycles or pedestrians from crossing the tracks at this point for some or all of the day. Also, Nob Hill Road at the railroad tracks just east of the Capital City Trail will also be closed on this day, although the Capital City trail itself will remain open for use. Please find an alternate route or mode of transportation if you normally bike these routes. Contact Tony Fernandez in City Engineering at 266-9219 if you have questions about these closures.
