I agree that State Street could, and perhaps should, be left out of future
routes.

If it is not, some effort ought to be taken to encourage participants to
stay on the side of the street dictated by their direction of travel. I did
not participate in this weekend's ride and was unable to use State Street to
head towards the Capitol due to the entire width of the street being taken
up by RtD'ers. Under the circumstances, ringing my bell was interpreted
differently than I had intended. I was not the only non-participating
cyclist having this problem.

I also agree that more could be done to accommodate residents and business
along the route(s). Many non-cyclists I know, as well as some cyclists,
don't really see the need for an event such as RtD, particularly given the
prevalence of bike paths and lanes, many of which service the same areas in
and around the RtD route. Reducing the inconvenience such an event poses to
non-particpants could go a long way.
