I recommend both Batch Bakehouse (there isn't anything but goodness there) and Madison Sourdough (brioche french toast is uh-may-zing!!), both on Willy St., very close to the path (Batch is near the Yahara crossing), and are hoping for business despite (to spite?) the street construction. Batch Bakehouse is open at 7 am Wed.-Sun., Madison Sourdough opens at 6:30 Mon.-Sat.
-Monica, who's about to head to Batch Bakehouse like, right now! Date: Thu, 16 Jun 2011 07:32:01 -0700 From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [Bikies] Breakfast runs I'm asking for morning suggestions to bike to someplace for breakfast. Bacon on the Path is over and done with for the year but I'm looking for someplace to go to after I get done with my night shift (6 a.m.). My latest visit was Zuzu by the zoo, 1336 Drake Street, is a fun little ride by the bike path then through the park. They open at 7 a.m. Mountain/Bluegrass music on the house speakers. Two bike racks. Speaking of Z’s before my Zzzz’s is Cafe Zoma, 2326 Atwood Ave, although I seldom apprach by the avenue side as it’s along the northeast Capital City Path. What can I say? Cool Atwood vibes. Two bike racks. Mostly, I hit the southside places like Washington Hotel Coffee Room, 402 W. Lakeside Street. Good view of Monona Bay toward Brittingham Park. Two racks. Cargo Coffee, 1309 S. Park St. I usually stop there before or after shopping at Copps across the street. One rack. I”ve also been to Ground Zero, 744 Williamson St. before the road work. Then there was a rack at the next corner. I went there while on Madison Bike Winter “bike to work day” photo mission when I also visited Barriques Coffee, 127 W. Washington, and Barriques Wine Cave at 1831 Monroe Street. I found one can have too much coffee in ther morning. I can’t remember how I parked my bike. There’s The Curve at 563 S. Park St. across from St. Mary’s Hospital. Friendly staff, heapin helpings, No rack but I lock my bike by the big tree on Erin Street. At 114 State Street is Michealangelo’s. It’s close to the square, plenty of bike parking opportunities. I’m not adverse to traveling a ways, especially after my light night of the week. I’m not on any particular mission except find places to bicycle too in the morning. Any suggestions would be welcome.
