The counter-flow in 100 Block of East Mifflin is part of the E Mifflin Bike
Blvd project that was
initiated by City Traffic. Both the Bike Blvd and the the counter-flow are
recommended in the
Platinum Bike Report (April 2008).

The bike lanes on the outer-loop are something I asked if it could be done on
the
reconstruction, since the Square and the 100 block of State are often shut down
for special
events. Engineer Chris Petykowski was receptive. I was on the BPW when I
asked the
question and since leaving the Board, I am pleased Chris followed thru.

A major challenge remains on providing accommodations for biking on W/E Doty
Street and
the S Webster Street where there are peak hour parking restrictions. Does
anyone have
thoughts on how the city can reconstruct those blocks of the outer loop for
biking?
