Dear fellow bikers,

My Tenney Lapham neighborhood could use assistance. The council will soon be voting on whether or not the city should hire consultants to study turning Johnson/Gorham into two-way streets. These two streets are incredibly dangerous for my neighborhood. Imagine teaching your kids to bike and having nightmares they will go anywhere near these streets, where the average car is going 10+ over the speed limit on this narrow, residential street.

Unfortunately, there is a strong movement to kill this study. I beg you, in the name of improving safety for all bikers in my neighborhood, please send a message to [email protected] and ask that the city proceed with funding this study. Please give them your address and what side of the city you live on.

Here is why it is important:

1. Vastly improving safety on this residential street
2. Progressive cities are waking up and realizing that two-way streets are safer, and more easy to navigate. 3. The housing along these streets would improve as families and longer term renters move back to the street
4. Revive the ailing business district around Paterson.

Note, Gorham was reconstructed two years ago and traffic was diverted to East Washington without the feared congestion.

Thank you for this consideration,

Kind Regards,
David Waugh
1213 East Mifflin Street
