The city of Madison is planning to tear down the Government East parking
ramp (next to the Great Dane), replacing it with underground parking and
above-ground improvements.

As part of this development, the city is considering creating a bike
center. The bike center would be a sort of full-service bike garage; along
with secure, indoor bike parking it could offer lockers and changing
facilities for bike commuters, and, possibly, repairs, rentals and retail.
You can see a nice example of this sort of facility in Chicago, in
Millennium Park
(*http://www.chicagobikestation.com/*<http://www.chicagobikestation.com/>
).

The city has put an online survey on its website to see if there is enough
interest in a bike center to justify building it. Even if you do not
currently commute by bike, please respond to the survey (*

In addition to current bike commuters, they are interested in getting the
views of potential bike commuters, people who live downtown, people who
visit downtown - with or without a bike - and anyone who might in any way
use a bike center, even if it were just to rent a bike for visitors.

Thanks for your help in collecting data on interest, and please repost this
message to others. I'm not sure how long this survey will be up, but likely
this is the last week.
