In a recent private response to one of my posts, another member of the list expressed concern that I didn't make any reference to beer. Perhaps I will ease his concern here. In the index to my email messages, the subject line cut off at the "g" of highest, and when I saw "Madison tied with Portland" (Portland, OR, that is, although Portland, ME, the city for which the one in Oregon was named when the locals chose the name Portland over Boston, would have been almost as worthy), I automatically assumed that it would be about beer, and was almost surprised that it was bicycling, that much lesser-known-and-less-significant-than-beer characteristic of both cities, that was being discussed.
Okay, to keep this bike-relevant, I should note that upon seeing a facebook post from a fellow beer writer, mentioning that he would miss his regular bicycling routine while in Denver for the Great American Beer Festival this weekend, I responded by telling him that Denver has B-Cycle and explaining how it works. An interesting thing on the Denver B-Cycle site is that they have a "Tour de B-Cycle" challenge involving making multiple sub-half-hour trips such that the participant check in his/her bike at all 51 stations in Denver in a single day: http://denver.bcycle.com/About/TourdeBcycle.aspx -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web.com – Enhanced email for the mobile individual based on Microsoft® Exchange - http://link.mail2web.com/Personal/EnhancedEmail _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.danenet.org/listinfo.cgi/bikies-danenet.org
