I just got back from the hearing (which is still going, and you can watch on
Wisconsin eye: http://www.wiseye.org/Home/AirVideoStream.aspx?ch=Web1 )
I found the committee to be fairly level headed - actually looking at costs
and benefits, and other ways to improve the law to make it a win-win, rather
than being all about repeal.

I ended up being the first speaker ( even though I held onto my registration
until after most other people showed up in the hopes of having my turn
coming after the majority of speakers), which turned out to be a good thing.
One of the previous lawmakers (not on the committee) who spoke cited the
fact that Oregon's smart growth law was repealed by referendum, so being a
former Oregonian, I amended his statement to include the fact that the
voters re-approved smart growth a few years ago.

I definitely spotted several tea party group members, who were clearly there
with other tea partiers, and sure enough, they harped on property rights and
Agenda 21 and whined about how bikeability is proof of Agenda 21's
implementation, which I believe did not play well with any of the committee
members. But that may change if the bill moves to the full assembly.
