Bike lanes don't have to come at the expense of on-street parking. Certainly something has to be displaced if you want to add bike lanes and are not changing the footprint of the road. But you could keep the on-street parking and just put it in a different place, like this: http://www.bfw.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Kinzie-Bike-Lane-CDOT.jpg

The author seems to be making the case that bike lanes (like all traffic lanes) are a public good. But parking is really a private good. -darin _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.danenet.org/listinfo.cgi/bikies-danenet.org _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.danenet.org/listinfo.cgi/bikies-danenet.org
