My two cents, sometimes I wear a helmet, sometimes I don't. In winter I always do, but in warm weather, I may not depending on where I am riding. When I rode a motorcycle, same thing.
I always make my son wear one, and if with him I always do also. But I went over the bars into Sherman Ave when I wasn't wearing one, without damage as I tucked and rolled, but on Willy St, I wouldn't think of riding without one. It should be a personal choice for adults, and not subject to critisism.
