I also reported to the police an incident just to have it documented. A
Madison city truck turning left hit myself and bike head on as I
crossed the intersection of Fish Hatch and Midland. I am fine; just wanted
it documented as the city or planners decide what to do with traffic after
the new clinic at the construction site is finished.
I also wanted it documented given the stream of bike incidents I see come
over the news or this list.
The police officer who followed up was quite nice about it. He said that
incident reports are not usually filed if people have left the scene (I
called after I arrived at work), but given the recent bike activity, he
said that it made sense to follow-up on this one. The driver concurred that
it could have been a very serious accident. I don't think I would have
survived if he had not stopped that the. very. last. second. I was
literally grabbing on to the bulldozing attachment on the front of the
truck ready to be scooped up.
