No need to apologize. We all know where you are coming
from. This stuff generates horrible emotions. Thanks for updating
everyone on the circumstances of Jessica's death. This is one of the
current increasing litany of cases of irresponsible
motorists killing and maiming cyclists. Her memory is going to help
us pass the vulnerable users law we at Bike Fed have written and
which will be introduced in the upcoming session of the legislature.

For those of you new to the list... Jessica Bullen's death a few
years ago was personal for
me, She was hit by Tracy Sorum while she was biking on a bright
clear day in the Town of
Cottage Grove on Vilas-Hope Road. He was "looking in his
mirror". Jess died at the scene.
Jess had recently gotten her Master's in Urban and Regional Planning
where she was top of
her class. She was a transportation biker and was taking one last
recreational ride the day
before she was to begin her first "real" job. A terrible loss for
her family, friends and the
entire community.
Tracy was prosecuted for negligent manslaughter - a hung jury got
him off. Instead he only
got Inattentive Driving. It didn't and doesn't seem right.
The Bike Fed is pursuing a "Vulnerable Users Law" to deal with
occurrences such as this. I
hope it passes. If it does, for me it will be in memory of Jess Bullen.

doesn't deserve to drive after

revoked/suspended
