The dates for Teaching Safe Bicycling - a free one-day course offered by WisDOT - have been set for 2013. It is a "train the trainer" course that teaches adults how to work with kids on bicycle safety.
I know that there are probably folks on this list that would be interested. Also, you might know people in other parts of the state that would be interested. There are sessions in Milwaukee, LaCrosse, Stevens Point, Fitchburg, and Appleton, so several locations/dates to chose from. http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/safety/vehicle/bicycle/docs/tsb-brochure.pdf I usually end up teaching one or more of these sessions, so I have seen who takes them and also who misses out but should take them. I have also learned a lot myself about kids' physical and cognitive development and what that means for their walking and biking safety. They are very good for anyone that wants to know more about kids bike safety or wants to help kids be better, safer bicyclists. They would even be good for parents who have kids ready to start biking around the neighborhood. The people that take the course are usually teachers, scout leaders, cops, after school/summer camp organizers, or other community members that plan to work with kids. But it's also a good course for people that want to encourage biking and/or know what their community can do to improve the bike environment for kids.
