If you bike on the Starkweather Creek path, be aware that the stretch between Commercial Avenue and the north side of the Aberg Avenue overpass has not been plowed and is impassable by bike. I managed to get into work by detouring to East Washington, and cutting back to the path on Melvin Ct. The bike lanes on East Wash were a little narrow, but acceptibly plowed.
What makes this particularly odd (and annoying) is that the entire rest of the path, both north and south of this link has been extremely well plowed, and has been plowed at least twice since the storm began yesterday. It had been plowed around noon yesterday, and was completely plowed this morning. It makes no sense to plow the entire path, but leave a critical link - the safest way across Aberg - impassable. This seems to be the continuation of a trend that I've noticed all winter of this stretch being neglected or poorly plowed, when the rest of the path is well done. I've filled out a request on the city's snow removal page. Is there anyone else I should contact at the city about maintaining this stretch?
