Someone emailed me to ask what had happened at the Tuesday MB Village board
meeting and whether comments/emails/call were still needed.

I asked Satya Rhodes-Conway, and while she didn't attend, she gave me this
report from feedbavk she heard from various folks that were there.

1. The Board only received public comment Tuesday, and they did not vote.

2. That means that your comments and input are still relevant. Satya thinks
the board will vote soon - maybe at their next meeting, whenever that is.

3. David Dryer, City of Madison Traffic Engineer presented information on
the project and process from the City's perspective and answered questions,
but did not stay for the full meeting.

4. Reports are that quite a few seniors testified that they felt unsafe
crossing Sherman as it is now and wanted a safer street. I'm assuming that
means that they are in favor.

5. There is considerable public support for the change, but obviously it is
not universal. Change makes many people nervous, and there is lots of
skepticism, just as there was in Madison. In addition, there's still a
feeling in MB that this is somehow being foisted upon them by the City, and
they weren't consulted in a timely manner.

Anyway, that's the information I have. If anyone on the list attended,
maybe you can give more or better information. Also, as mentioned above,
your input is still need to the MB Village Board and the Village
Administrator: Tim Krueger

If you have friends, family, or other contacts in MB, they would be the
best ones to make contact. Not that Madison residents or other non-MB-ites
don't count, but elected and appointed officials always are more interested
in the opinions and influence of their own constituents.

Thanks to everyone who has pitched in to help make Sherman Ave safer!
