Wednesday, October 2, 7:15 PM - ???. (Probably around an hour.)

Location: To be sent to volunteers. It will be in the south campus area,
that is, south of University Ave - Union South, SW Path, etc.

Email me if you can help.

One more attempt to gather volunteers for the second and final fall Be
Bright campaign. Last week we had a great
time<http://www.nbc15.com/home/headlines/UW-police-helping-student-bicyclists-stay-safe-at-night-225281182.html>helping
attach front and rear lights on bikes over by Helen C White
Library. The UWPD stopped bicyclists without lights, but instead of giving
them a ticket, they were directed to the volunteers that attached lights to
their bikes.

(They also got a verbal warning and short lecture on bicycling laws from
the UWPD officers. Many of the volunteers also added their own suggestions
on how to stay safe.)

This is both fun and an important way to help make bicyclists safer as the
days get shorter. Many people stopped - they are mostly students, but not
all - are not even aware they need lights at night.

No experience or tools needed, but if you have a headlamp or a screwdriver,
bring them along.

Thanks in advance!
