I use studded tires front and back and wouldn't have it any other way with
the hills I have had to climb on my commutes over the years.  I agree with
John on the necessity of a rear studded tire for cornering; I would have
been down hard many times without a rear studded tire.  For Chuck, how do
you get your tires to last 15 years?  I only get 7 years out of my Nokian
Mount & Grounds and then the sidewalls start to disintegrate.
