Is there anything that gives the city the ability to remove these from
city racks on sight (since they're being used for marketing instead of
transportation) or do they have to be posted and hauled away like any
other potentially abandoned bicycle?

I have asked city staff to determine whether these are "signs" under our ordinances, and thus require a permit. They also have to be at the site of the business, as Fitchburg doesn't permit new "off-site signs" (a.k.a. billboards).

I'm all for biking, as you all know. I am not in favor of junk bikes chained up around the City of Fitchburg (three locations have been reported to me). I consider this campaign to be littering.

There has also been a strong reaction by the people in the ghost bike movement, who paint bikes white and install them as memorials where bicyclists have been killed.

Please report any orange advertising bike sightings in Fitchburg to me. I have reports so far of these near SuperTarget, near Copps, and on Seminole Highway at the Cannonball Path crossing.

Unfortunately, I think its a marketing scheme. I finally Googled
it last night and it appears to be a gimmick for OrangeTheory

Anyone notice these popping up? Are they supposed to be like
the old red bikes? Have seen 3-4 of them pop up in the last
            week.
