Great news about Old Middleton Rd! Thank you Rich for all your input to Madison Traffic Engineering, to help shape the improvement of that intersection. You're right - it's not just about people cycling eastbound from Old Middleton onto the path. It needs to help people get across Old Middleton between the path and Eau Claire.
