Here's the City of Madison contact page: http://www.cityofmadison.com/contact/
If you scroll down, you can see a listing for Traffic Engineering: - *Traffic Engineering:* [email protected] Tel: (608) 266-4761 Also, here's the TE home page, if you want to dig around a bit more: http://www.cityofmadison.com/trafficengineering/ Note that there is a tab for Bike Madison. You can sign up for all sorts of alerts from the city, including one on bike issues. They don't send out all that much stuff -- I'd say less than six per year -- so you won't be inundated. But you will get notice of things like path closures, surveys, or other important notices. Now, admittedly, that phone number will just get you to the front desk. Not sure who answers the email, but the head of the TE department is David Dryer, so you might address the email to him or ask that it be forwarded to him. You could also email Aaron Crandall <[email protected]>, the Chair or the Pedestrian/Bicycle/Motor Vehicle Commission <https://madison.legistar.com/DepartmentDetail.aspx?ID=17487&GUID=3E719A38-7815-4099-A872-32744954838D>, and ask that this item to be put on the agenda. Then make sure that he asks TE to give a report about why it is the way it is or any plans to change it. Since this affects all three modes (pedestrians may not know how many lanes they are crossing, so I think it affects them as well), this seems like a good topic for the committee. And I assure you that you are NOT the only person with this question/concern.
