=v= The problem under discussion was how to SHARE an item
for others to read. The _New_York_Times_ provides means
to do this, because it benefits them to be referenced as
the paper of record. My advice was specifically about
that use case, specifically in response to a complaint
about not being able to read a shared link.
=v= Not that it's anyone's business, I have been a subscriber
to the paper edition of the _Times_ for some time, but our
distributor started scamming its subscribers with phony bills
and subscriptions were handed over to a new less-experienced
(but still less-competent) service. That prompted me to get
an online subscription, so I can read an unlimited number of
articles on one device (and 10/month on the other devices).
=v= I know some _Times_ reporters personally, and yes I do
prefer for them to be paid.
