We want to invite you to participate in an exciting new citywide program: Love to Ride Madison<lovetoride.net/madison>. A partnership between the City of Madison, Sustain Dane, the Wisconsin Bike Fed and the Madison Area Transportation Planning Board/Rideshare Etc is presenting this new challenge, a month-long local bike challenge developed to encourage more people to rediscover the joys and benefits of riding a bike.
The Love to Ride Madison is a challenge between businesses to see which can get the highest percentage of their staff to ride a bike for at least 10 minutes (or more) at least once between August 23rd and September 30th. Employers will have the chance to win team prizes and bragging rights, while individuals can also win some great prizes for logging their rides and encouraging others to ride. Unlike other cycling challenges, this challenge isn't to see who can ride the most miles. The aim here is to encourage people who don't yet ride to experience firsthand how easy and enjoyable riding a bike in Madison can be. The Challenge encourages people to experience what it is actually like to ride a bike through events, incentives and peer encouragement. In addition messages that participants receive throughout the challenge are tailored to their experience level based on their survey responses when they sign up to participate. The role of more experienced riders are to provide encouragement and support to their co-workers throughout the challenge. The Love to Ride Madison team would love to have you sign up your business and work with us to get your co-workers out on bikes. Once you sign your business up to participate we will follow up with materials to help you spread the word at your company, and make it easy to engage your colleagues to take part and help lead your company to victory! We are one of just a small group of US cities that is piloting this program this year and the more businesses we get signed up the more we can evaluate the program's success here and offer feedback for future implementation.
