The yield sign at the Machinery Row intersection is useless. Bikers coming from
Willy Street are focused on the cars coming from four directions. I passed that
sign hundreds of times without noticing it, until I got hit by an ATT truck
turning right into Machinery Row. It stopped for a biker ahead of me, then
turned right in front of me. I got a broken rib and lots of bruises. The driver
told me he was blinded by the sun, but told the cop I "came out of nowhere."
The cop never got a statement from me, just the driver. No ticket for either of
us. Since no ticket was issued, ATT refused to pay for the hundreds of dollars
in bike damage, the medical bills and several days off work. Now I'm super
vigilant when I pass by, but have still had several close calls. I'm told the
city is working on a solution to the intersection, but I've yet to see the
details.
