This message was caught in my spam filter, so sorry for the late reply. While Rails to Trails Conservancy is a great group on the national level, and they do some wonderful work in other states, I don't want people to think that donating to them will help locally. As far as I can remember -- and I have checked with others in the bike advocacy movement as well -- RTC has not been active in Wisconsin for as long as I can remember.
This is not to say you shouldn't donate to them. But your donation won't do much for trails here in Wisconsin. For that, either donate to Wisconsin Bike Fed <http://bfw.org/>, your local friends group (for instance Friends of the Badger Trail <http://www.friendsofbadgerstatetrail.org/>_), another local movement, or another statewide group working on recreation and transportation policy. Even better, talk to your local, state, and federal officials about how important trails and other infrastructure for non-motorized use are to you.
