The Natural Resources Board (NRB) reports that citizens presented a document entitled "Petition for a Strategic Analysis of Frac Sand Mining" to the NRB in October 2014. In January 2015, the Board approved the Department's recommendation to use the strategic analysis process, as outlined on NR 150.10, to take a "big picture" look at the industrial sand mining industry in the state.
DNR staff will update the NRB on the Department's strategic analysis related to the industrial sand mining industry in Wisconsin at its September 23, 2015 meeting at North Star Mohican Casino in the Casino Events Center, W12180 County Road A, Bowler, WI. The DNR reports that it crafted a draft outline of topics to address and sought public comments on the scope of the analysis during the period of March 17 through April 20.
