Signs like this would be very helpful. I come from the west; if I saw an "elevator not working" sign at Broom St., I'd get off the path at that point and find a reasonably direct route to the Square. As it is, I go to Monona Terrace, encounter the Out of Order sign, mutter something under my breath, and continue to Blair St. -- adding several minutes to my trip.
(It might also help to temporarily remove the "no bikes" rule on the spiral ramps to give bikers a more direct route to Level 4.) Those are the points at which commuters can actually use the information to select an alternate route. Imagine a road being torn up in the middle of a several-mile stretch between two roads, and a "Road Closed" sign only at the point the road is torn up, and no signs at the intersections at either end of that stretch of road. That's about how useful the sign on the door is. IOW, MT staff have to think of the elevator as a road. I knew there was a planned outage for repairs on Tuesday, and I planned my route accordingly. But yesterday and today I came to the elevator and saw the Out of Order sign and had to take a detour to get to work. I can survive without the elevator, but it would be helpful to know its status before I get on my bike so I can choose my route. Are status reports posted anywhere? _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list Bikies@lists.danenet.org http://lists.danenet.org/listinfo.cgi/bikies-danenet.org _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list Bikies@lists.danenet.org http://lists.danenet.org/listinfo.cgi/bikies-danenet.org BQ_END -- Paul T.
