Your modifications will be kept, no conf files are overwritten. You will 
be informed by the output of "make install". :-)

Binary and doc files in /opt/bincimap (or whichever prefix you have
chosen) and service/conf files in /etc/opt/bincimap. It's perfectly safe 
to run, and to uninstall, you can simply remove these directories.
