Hi Adam,

I'm not sure how those files landed in /var/log/qmail ..

Which version of bincimap did you use. I haven't updated to 1.2.6final yet, so I don't know if the instructions need updating.

Andy - has the --sysconfdir option for configure in 1.2.6final changed from 1.2.3?

Just noticed some changes on the wiki - I've always prefered to move the service directories instead of link them - I get confused if there's more lying about than necessary :)

Andy is there a reason for having imap and imaps down by default? I might not be understanding properly the full effect of have down files in a service directory.

cheers,
AndyG.

Hi Andy, thanks for the replies.

Yes I ran the ./configure script with those commands and I think I have found the files. They actually appear to be in /var/log/qmail/service/imap(s) so I jave moved those directories to /var/qmail/supervise as per the rest of the instructions. I'm just running through the rest now to see what happens next..

Regards,

Adam

Hi All,
I decided I could live without openssl support in Binc and have now
installed BincImap without ssl support. One problem remains on my Solaris
9 setup though..
When following the guide on lifewithbincimap.org on how to install binc
with qmail, there are the following instructions:

mv /var/qmail/control/service/imap /var/qmail/supervise
mv /var/qmail/control/service/imaps /var/qmail/supervise

The problem is that for some reason these files don't exist, - there isnt
even a /var/qmail/control/service directory. I followed the instructions
on lifewithqmail.org to the tee so I'm wondering where these files are
meant to have come from?

They are most likely in /etc/opt/bincimap/service/imap and .../imaps. The
directories should not be moved, however; they should be symlinked. If
not, you may run into problems mentioned earlier on this list, with svscan
detecting the service itself before the log/ directory.

The guide to using Binc with qmail assumes you ran configure like so:

./configure --prefix=/var/qmail \
            --sysconfdir=/var/qmail/control \
            --localstatedir=/var/log/qmail
make

Did you do this with 1.2.6final?

Andy :-)
