I've been tinkerig with configure again and I'm sorry to report I'm still not able to get it to see the openssl libs in /usr/local/lib. I'll carry on trying today but if I cant get it to work in a few days I'm going to have to abandom the bincimap effort and see if I can get another imap server to work. It shouldn't be this hard.. :-(
