Hi, I've just installed binc-1.2.6final and I'm having trouble authenticating with a vpopmail account. The account seems to be set up properly, as I was able to send a mail to it:

c433:~ # ll ~vpopmail/domains/eis9.com/test/Maildir/new/
total 5
drwx------ 2 vpopmail vchkpw 96 2004-03-23 16:40 .
drwx------ 5 vpopmail vchkpw 120 2004-03-23 16:31 ..
-rw------- 1 vpopmail vchkpw 1153 2004-03-23 16:40 1080081623.16859.c433,S=1095

When I try to connect to the account with Mozilla (tried both 'test%eis9.com' and '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' usernames) I get a login failure. binc's log shows:

@40000000406114410a76df04 19304 1 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:] <test%eis9.com> authentication failed: wrong userid or password

I can connect but not login through telnet and openssl:

Escape character is '^]'.
* OK Welcome to Binc IMAP Copyright (C) 2002-2004 Andreas Aardal Hanssen at 2004-03-23 23:06:35 CST

1 NO LOGIN failed: Login failed. Either your user name or your password was wrong. Please try again, and if the problem persists, please contact your system administrator.

I've tried changing '/bin/checkpassword' to '/home/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw' in the imap and imaps supervise/run files, but it doesn't seem to change anything. I tried changing the password with ~vpopmail/bin/vpasswd to be sure I knew what it was, still no effect.

Does anyone have any suggestions about where to troubleshoot next? Is there any way to test vpopmail authentication (without going through binc) to make sure that is working properly?

Thanks,
Joel
