Previously, I was using Outlook XP with POP3. I've just installed BincIMAP so that I can keep my email on the server, and I've run into a problem:
Using Microsoft Outlook XP, something gets horrendously confused. 1) It claims that I've only got 1000 items in my Inbox (SquirrelMail reports the same number, so it appears to be a problem with BincIMAP). Actually, on inspection (by looking in /home/vpopmail/domains/blah/blah/cur), it seems that I have only got 1000 items in my Inbox. This is a suspiciously round number. Forget this one for now. 2) Some emails appear to have today's date, even though they're months old. This causes them to appear at the top of the list, above emails that are actually new. Clicking on them sometimes (but not always) causes them to disappear. I assume that Outlook is noticing the real date and moving them around in the list. This problem doesn't seem to occur with SquirrelMail. 3) Sometimes, similarly to the above, emails appear to have an attachment. When clicked on, it turns out that they don't. Again, this problem doesn't appear in SquirrelMail. Any thoughts? I'm going to poke at it with Thunderbird and Outlook Express, and see what they do. BTW, I'm using IMAPdir with vpopmail 5.4.0 and BincIMAP-1.2.7beta5. Cheers, Roger.
